I have an assignment due on Friday, exams next week, work and soccer tomorrow but I can't find any motivation to do any of them. This semester sucks and after 10 weeks of Prac and 6 intense weeks of Uni, without a break, all I want to do is sleep and watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (damn David Tennant taunting me).

That's my whinge for the last 3 months.

In other news Melbourne was cool, driving there was not.

Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all her words of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you

She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her when she says her love is dead
You think she needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone
She doesn't need him

Your day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head
You won't forget her

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

Have been sick with something for the last week and a bit. Was crook on Free Comic book day, had all of last week off Uni as well as today and missed soccer on Sunday. One of my doctors thinks I might have German Measles so I have to go back to the doctors on Thursday to get my blood test results back. Free Comic book day was good and I bought 3 more Ultimate X-Men comics and Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories. It was a pretty good haul overall and now I wants more.

In other news I have become addicted to Kim Possible and have been watching it on Foxtel with Cassie and David. The show is hilarious and I swear most of the jokes are lost on most kids who watch it. I have tried looking for it on DVD but can't find it any where, stupid Disney.

Ah well back to Bondi Rescue.

P.S. Season 2 of Skins starts on Monday for those who are into that kind of thing.

I have two essays due next Friday. Both of them are discussion papers, where you have to consider two sides of an argument and assess both of them, unfortunately from what I can understand neither essay provides a question or statement that has two arguments.

Here is the question for Multilitertacies:

Essay 1 - Contrast the traditional and contemporary notions of literacy in terms of society’s idea of what it meant to be literate, and the literacy skills required to function within respective cultures. Finally argue what has caused the move from literacy to literacies.

There is no statement or argument being presented in this question. You can not identify an issue and then assess arguments for and against the issue BECAUSE THERE IS NO ISSUE. A better question would have been -

Contemporary notions of literacy are more relevant to teaching than traditional notions of literacy. Consider the social context of each notion of literacy and explain how this may affect its relevancy.

This question, at the very least, creates an issue and lets you consider two sides of an argument.

Here is the question for Emerging Literacy:

Question 3 - Children learn literacy through active engagement with books and writing opportunities.

This question does raise an issue about how children learn literacy and you can identify sides to the point, but here is my argument against why it is a stupid question. There is no one in the world, NO ONE, who would say that children don't obtain literacy skills through by not engaging with books or participating in writing. Even in the 18th century children used books and had to practice writing to become literate. So in conclusion it is impossible to assess two sides of this issue because it impossible to find any research that says children can learn literacy by not engaging with books or writing opportunities.

What annoys me most about stupid questions like these is that I pay $5000 a year to write an essay on them. It just doesn't make sense.

I discovered today that I start uni again next week. Shit hey!

The uni still hasn't sorted out our timetables, which I need to sort out when I can work at my new job (a teachers aid at Bligh Park). I also told them that we usually don't start uni until the start of March, but apparently we start a few weeks earlier. I have the feeling that I'm going to have to go to uni 4 days a week (mainly because I haven't received a terribly shit timetable yet) which means that I cant work at Bligh Park because I won't be able to earn enough money.

Now to go and see if my Timetable has been posted

Just an entry to catch everyone up with what has happened since Christmas Eve.

Christmas was spent at several houses - Cassie's mum's, my house and my cousin's house on Christmas Day and at Cassie's uncles house in Canberra on Boxing Day. All in all these events were largely Christmassy and full of merriment, cheer and Christmas crackers.

Cassie and I then spent several days at divine_evil's house using it as a base to visit Canberra's most famous monuments, Questacon and Cockington Green. It was also a chance to catch up with Stacey, although she had to work so we didn't get to see her that much which was :(. We also had dinner breakfast with one of Stacey's friends who was pretty cool.

We got back around New Year's Eve and promptly spent time lounging around in laziness, mainly watching cricket and playing Playstation, and being trapped inside by the rainy weather (that's my excuse anyway).

The second week of January was spent camping up at Coffs Harbour with my family and some family friends which was good. It was the first time I've been up in four years and it was really good. It wasn't particularly sunny or dry but on the days that it was we went to the beach which was fantastic.

Last night was Lani's (my best friend from highschool) and Morgan's (a guy from highschool who may or may not be gay) 21st and it was good to catch up with people from highschool that I haven't spoken to for a long time. We spent most teh night talking to Tina and lil' Julie (who was particularly drunk - much to Tina's amusement). The open bar was taken advantage of and some extremely poor pool was played by myself and Tina. The highlight of the night was to running into a group of people I went to primary school with and talking to them tourist attractions they could visit in Europe.

Today me and Cassie are going to Chris's for a family luncheon so i better go get ready.

Any way that's all there is, ther isn't anymore.

Have all but finished uni for the year, only exams to go, so fingers crossed. Have got barely any assignments back which is bullshit really, though I did get a distinction in Children's Literacy. That's the highest mark I've heard so far so pretty happy.

Am job hunting at the moment, applied for a job at the tax office entering tax returns into a computer and another job at Dick Smith's at Penrith. If anyone out there knows of any jobs that are available, give me a yell, coz yeah need the work.

In other news I haven't won lotto or travelled to Jupiter so two of my life dreams remain unfulfilled, yet Christmas is upon us again. However, as cassie_lee is fantastically organised, she has made a list that will help buy presents and save me the agony of trying to find things the night before :)

The other day I had the strangest dream.

The dream started as a school excursion with Cassie, Bunty, and Bizzy. Soon enough Ginny Weasely showed up and as she is my Harry Potter crush I tried continually to talk to her. However my efforts were continually thwarted by a teacher, who insisted that I “should learn to tie my shoelaces before I consider courting the young lady”.

At some point in the excursion Voldemort (looking like Brad Pitt from Troy, but without the muscles) showed up. We ran off and the next thing I know I am in hiding I giant fortress/bunker in the middle of a city with James Bond trying to learn how to Japapparte. That’s right Japparate, (I never found out exactly what it was but I can only assume it was like Apparating, except with anime).

Because I was hiding, Voldemort went after my friends to find out where I was. Eventually he found Ralph Wiggum hiding at the top of a clock tower. After being threatened by Voldemort Ralph managed to escape when his pet dragon/pokemon (think Pikachu with dragon wings) vomited all over Voldemort, and he flew to my fortress holding the feet of his dragon/pokemon.

This however led Voldemort straight to the fortress, where he captured Ron by tying him up with giant hands. To save Ron I had to face Voldemort in a duel but I managed to defeat him by standing side on to Voldemort’s spells (apparently this makes you impossible to hit) before kneeing the last spell (Arvarda Kerdavra) back towards Voldemort.

Freeing Ron we made a crazy dash around the passageways of the fortress, closely followed by an extremely calm yet murderous Voldemort. Eventually Ron, the twins – who looked like Travis and Jaren – Hermione, Ginny and myself were cornered into a room by Voldemort but succeeded in keeping him out by pushing on the door. Voldemort, unable to think of anyway to get past a blocked door Voldemort just put his wand through the gap where it was grabbed by Ginny and snapped in half. He continued to do this seven more times, each time his wand continued to look more and more like lead pencil, and Ginny continued to snap them. After all his wands ran out Voldemort gave up and decided to go home but not until he danced like Cat from Red Dwarf to David Bowie’s ‘Little China Girl’.

After all this I was about to kiss Ginny when the teacher turned up and yelled that I “still hadn’t done my bloody shoelaces up and at this rate would never get a job.”
